CLRA Alberta 2018 Conference:  Call for Abstracts

Land Stewardship - A Joint Effort

The Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Land Reclamation Association (CLRA) will be hosting their Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Conference February 28 to March 2, 2018 at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Centre in Red Deer, Alberta. The conference portion consists of:

•        Sponsor booths

•        Two days of presentations with over 40 different speakers

•        Wednesday evening networking reception

•        Thursday evening social, banquet and student awards

•        Friday lunch guest speaker

The theme this year is Land Stewardship – A Joint Effort

In its broadest sense, stewardship is the recognition of our collective responsibility to retain the quality and abundance of our land, air, water and biodiversity, and to manage this natural capital in a way that conserves all of its values, be they environmental, economic, social or cultural. (A Stewardship Roadmap for Canada, National Stewardship Conference, 2009).

As environmental and reclamation practitioners, we are all considered to be “stewards” working together to ensure our natural capital is available for future generations.  To satisfy the theme, we are seeking abstracts that showcase how we are working together to achieve land stewardship goals.

Abstracts are to be submitted to Darren Heck at no later than November 24, 2017.

Welcome to the Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Land Reclamation Association. With approximately 650 members, our chapter is a vibrant part of the reclamation movement within Alberta and includes private and corporate members alike.

Our corporate members include upstream, midstream and downstream producers in the oil and gas industry as well as a wide variety of consulting firms and contractors. We actively welcome student members from all post secondary institutions with an interest in reclamation.

Part of our ongoing initiative is to provide scholarships to deserving student members who show outstanding initiatives in the field of reclamation. In addition, we donate funds raised from our Annual Charity Golf Tournament. Our recipients for 2014 are Western Sky Land Trust (, and the Alberta Centre for Reclamation Restoration Ecology (ACRRE,  These two trust funds are committed to reclaiming or conserving local areas  and research, education and innovation within the province.
