The Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Land Reclamation Association (CLRA) will be hosting its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Conference in Red Deer, Alberta from Wednesday, February 23 - Friday, February 25, 2022.

Congratulations to Chris Tenszen on receiving the 2022 Dr. Jack Winch Early Career Award. Chris has over 10 year of experience in the environmental industry. He obtained a Diploma with Honours from Lakeland College in Conservation and Restoration Ecology and later graduated with a B.Sc. with Distinction from the University of Alberta in Environmental and Conservation Sciences, majoring in land reclamation.

Submit your nomination/application for the 2022 National Awards by September 30th! CLRA/ACRSD award programs recognize individuals and/or organizations for outstanding contributions to the practice of land reclamation across Canada.

Congratulations to Dr. Bob Pett for receiving the 2021 IN-TECH Reclamation Award. Dr. Bob Pett has 42 years of experience in environmental research, management, and training in Canada and abroad (including 17 years with NS Department of Public Works).

ESAA invites you to submit technical abstracts for EnviroTech 2022. Abstracts are encouraged in, but not limited to, water, climate change, air, and more!

ESAA is pleased to announce that RemTech is expanding and the first edition of RemTech East will be held June 1-3 at the Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls. At this time ESAA invites you to submit technical abstracts for RemTech 2022 .

2021 Tom Peters Memorial Mine Reclamation Bursary Recipient.

The Ontario Chapter of the Canadian Land Reclamation Association, along with the Ontario Mining Association, the Ontario Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry, and Vale are pleased to announce that Patrick Levasseur is this years’ winner of the Tom Peters Memorial Mine Reclamation Bursary.

CLRA National 2021 IN-TECH (Group) Reclamation Award Recipient: Nova Scotia Lands Inc.

Since its establishment in 2006, Nova Scotia Lands Inc. has done a diverse array of reclamation projects throughout Nova Scotia. These projects have improved receiving waters, restored community access to previously degraded land, protected resources, and employed innovative technologies.

CLRA National 2021 Linda Jones Memorial Award Recipient: Brandon Williams

Brandon Williams is a biologist and ecologist that completed his undergraduate degree in Alberta. He is now completing his graduate studies at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. His work examines the use of prescribed burning as a tool to shift an agronomic grass dominated tailings storage facility located at Highland Valley Copper mine to a native grassland community. Outside of academia he has experience in environmental consulting as a biologist. Brandon is committed to the reclamation and restoration of ecosystems to ensure the maintenance of biodiversity and ecosystem services for future generations.

CLRA National 2021 IN-TECH (Individual) Reclamation Award Recipient: Dr. Bob Pett

Dr. Bob Pett has 42 years of experience in environmental research, management, and training in Canada and abroad (including 17 years with NS Department of Public Works). Currently, Dr. Bob is responsible for environmental aspects of highway planning, construction and maintenance in the Province, and leads activities related to fish habitat, wetland and salt marsh restoration, habitat banking, environmental monitoring, and climate change adaptation. He is a Director and former President of the Atlantic Branch of the Canadian Land Reclamation Association (CLRA).

CLRA National 2021 Dr. Edward M. Watkin Award Recipient: Marissa Reckmann

Over the past seven Years Marissa Reckmann has been heavily involved with the Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Land Reclamation Association. She started as a Director (2015) with the Alberta Chapter and moved to the role of President and served an additional two years as Past President (2019 to 2021).

Chris has over 10 year of experience in the environmental industry. He obtained a Diploma with Honours from Lakeland College in Conservation and Restoration Ecology and later graduated with a B.Sc. with Distinction from the University of Alberta in Environmental and Conservation Sciences, majoring in land reclamation. In 2016, he joined Trace Associates Inc. as a Senior Reclamation Advisor. In 2020, Chris took on the role of Practice Area Lead for Reclamation, which enables him to mentor and empower staff across the company in all aspects of reclamation across a variety of market sectors.
