Introducing ‘Adapting AGILE & SCRUM to Help Identify, Assess, and Manage Team Workloads’ with Todd Martin, Senior Environmental Specialist at Ovintiv Canada ULC, presented by the CLRA Alberta Chapter on September 21st. Register by September 19th, free member access and $20 for non-members, all proceeds benefit Western Sky Land Trust.

The City of Saskatoon is developing methods to protect groundwater and groundwater users within its jurisdiction. They are conducting a survey to provide your feedback on the importance of groundwater protection in Saskatoon and the options proposed. Engagement feedback, along with best practice research and funding considerations, will be provided to City Council for their consideration in Winter 2021.

2 awards of $1000 and a 1-year membership in the CLRA, honouring Linda Jones, are presented annually to students in a reclamation related program at a Canadian institution in recognition of excellence in academic studies which advance the theory, knowledge or practice of #LandReclamation.

1 month remaining to submit abstracts to present at the 2021 Atlantic Reclamation Conference, held virtually from November 15-19, 2021. Abstracts are due September 17, 2021.

The CLRA Alberta Chapter is now accepting abstracts for our online webinar series! Have a great idea for a session? We want to hear it!

Two awards are presented annually in honour of Linda Jones, in recognition of excellence in academic studies which advance the theory, knowledge or practice of land reclamation. Linda was specifically interested in promoting student participation in CLRA events and membership in CLRA. One award will be for a poster presentation and one for an oral presentation. Each award will be for $1000 and a one-year membership in the CLRA.

This award celebrates innovative techniques that advance the practice of reclamation in Canada within any sector of industry (i.e mining, forestry, oil & gas). The award is presented in recognition of outstanding contributions of the nominee in the areas of professional practice, teaching, research and/or regulatory development as they relate to innovation within the profession of land reclamation in Canada.

CLRA Atlantic Chapter 2021 Annual General Meeting

The Atlantic Chapter of the CLRA is holding the 2021 Annual General Meeting on Thursday, April 22 at 5:00 PM AST via GoTo Meeting. The existing board would like to formally call for nominations to those interested in joining the board: there are positions available and executive opportunities can be discussed based on your interest. Please consider sending in your nominations and joining the board. Those interested in joining are required to be in good standing as a member of the CLRA. We hope to “see” you there!

Natural Processes: Restoration of Drastically Disturbed Sites

The Atlantic Chapter of the Canadian Land Reclamation Association (CLRA) and the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) joined forces again and co-hosted an ARC2019 workshop regarding the Natural Process for the Restoration of Drastically Disturbed Sites, instructed by David Polster; R.P. Bio. It was a two-day event starting with an “in-class” presentation at the NBCC campus in Moncton, NB outlining the techniques used in live staking and the benefits of Natural Process Restoration. Day two consisted of harvesting, trimming, and staking willows onsite at the Saint Marie Community Pasture in Bouctouche, NB. There was a good turn-out with 35 people including students, industry and government representation.
